What are varicose veins?
Varicose veins are a disease that affects the veins of the legs.
It is due to various factors, that the veins widen, dilate and become tortuous. This causes blood circulation problems that can be very harmful to health in addition to the unsightliness of varicose veins.
People who suffer from varicose veins, have heaviness of legs, cramps, itching and even severe pain.
Varicose veins are formed by malfunction of the valves of the leg veins. These valves help the blood continue its way to the heart.
Varicose veins can be superficial or deep, superficial varicose veins are visible and inflamed. Deep varicose veins may be the result of clots or inflammation.
Laser surgery for varicose veins works by sending very strong bursts of light into the vein, which causes the vein to slowly fade and disappear. The lasers are very direct and precise and only damage the area to be treated. All types of skin, whatever their color, can be treated safely with lasers. Laser technology is considered the most effective and with fewer side effects. Laser surgery is more comfortable for patients because no needles are used or incisions are made. When the laser hits the skin, the patient only feels a small blow and the skin does not suffer because it is relieved by a cooling before and after the application of the laser.
There may be some redness or swelling of the skin right after the treatment, but this goes away in a few days. The skin can also acquire a certain color, but this will disappear in just one or two weeks. The treatments usually last between 15 and 20 minutes and depending on the severity of the veins, two to five sessions are necessary to eliminate them completely. Patients can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment.
Types of laser for varicose veins
There are several types of lasers that can be used to treat varicose veins and spider veins in the legs, face, or other areas of the body. It will be the doctor who will decide which is the best to treat your specific case. Some of the lasers used to treat veins include light yellow laser, green laser light and other intense pulsed light systems. In general, medical insurance does not usually cover these treatments because they are considered aesthetic.
Although laser treatment is still not used as often as sclerotherapy (vascular sclerosis), some doctors believe that it may become the standard for the treatment of varicose veins. It is not very invasive and can be performed in a doctor's office. This method involves the placement of a special catheter or a very small tube in the vein. Once inside, the catheter sends out radiofrequency energy to cause the vein wall to contract and close. The only side effect is a slight bruise.
The surgery is mainly used to treat very large varicose veins.
We recommend: before starting a treatment or remedy on your own, consult a Doctor (Vascular Surgeon) who is the vein specialist.

varicose vein
With the D 940 high-power laser technology it is now possible to immediately eliminate spider veins or telangiectasias from any part of the body including the legs and face.
This semiconductor laser of unique German origin in Colombia has a wavelength with high absorption by hemoglobin and low absorption by melanin, which is achieved by eliminating the unwanted venita immediately protecting the skin.
- Specialized vascular consultation.
- Duplex venous lower limbs.
- Once the venous insufficiency has been ruled out, the areas to be treated are mapped.
- The treatment requires 10 to 60 minutes and the patient will experience a slight pinch.
- The treated veins disappear immediately flushed for a few hours ("cat scratch").
- May require associated sclerotherapy of reticular veins (green) nutrition.
- Does not require disability.
- Generally in a single session.
- Without pain.
- Without skin damage.
Microfoam is a therapeutic procedure indicated for the treatment of all types of varicose veins and malformations of the venous system.
It consists in injecting into the varicose veins a microfoam configured with physiological gases of high solubility in the blood and a sclerosing substance.
Polidocanol deposited on the microbubbles irritates the interior of the treated veins and causes a transient inflammatory reaction that leads to fibrosis and subsequent definitive resorption.
The elimination of the varicose vein makes the circulation improve, since the body generates new veins to evacuate the blood. Varicose veins, being diseased veins, are not functional and the organism does not need them.
The procedure is suitable for any type of varicose vein, regardless of its size and morphology, it does not require any type of surgery or sick leave, it is totally ambulatory and the patient can return immediately to his normal life.

More About Varicose Veins
Varicose veins, also known as peripheral venous insufficiency, are dilations of veins that, for various reasons, do not correctly perform their function of bringing blood back to the heart and, therefore, blood accumulates in them, and dilate and they become torturous.
Usually the term varices is used to refer to those that appear in the legs, being the most frequent, but can also arise in other areas of the body such as the esophagus (esophageal varices), the anal region (hemorrhoids) or in the testicles (varicocele)
The frequency with which they appear depends on many factors, but taking into account only those that give rise to clinical manifestations, it can be considered that between 10% and 15% of the population suffers, increasing this percentage with age and sex. , because there are more women affected than men.
Causes of varicose veins
The veins are the vessels responsible for bringing the blood back to the heart, once they have irrigated all the tissues by providing oxygen and nutrients, which is called venous return.
It must be taken into account that, given the upright position of the human being, the blood of the legs must ascend, overcoming the force of gravity, which implies an added effort. To facilitate this task, the veins have valves in their interior that prevent the blood back, and also have the help of the muscles of the legs that, when contracting, help to push the blood, establishing a unique sense towards the heart .
The plantar pad also contributes to the correct development of this process. The pad is formed by a set of glasses that fill with blood, like a sponge, and, by resting the foot, the pressure exerted on the plant pushes that blood towards the heart.
When for some reason these valves can not fulfill their mission to prevent reflux, the blood accumulates, increasing the pressure, dilating and lengthening the veins (so they have to writhe in knots), and altering its wall, so it can get to come out liquid to the outside (extravasation) of the vein, altering the tissues of that area.Types of varicose veins
Varicose veins have four grades or types:
Grade I varicose veins or varicose veins
At this stage, fine veins of violaceous color are seen in some places and through the skin. Sometimes they can have a star shape, and are called spider veins. In general, they are only an aesthetic problem but, in certain occasions, they can produce a feeling of heaviness and fatigue in the legs.
Varices Grade II
The veins become more visible and begin to notice the first symptoms such as:
Heaviness and tiredness in the legs.
Pain.
Cramps.
Hormigueos.
Sensation of heat or itching and itching.
Varices Grade III
The veins are more dilated and tortuous. The symptoms progressively increase, and there is swelling and edema and changes in skin color.
Varices Grade IV
Eczematous areas and ulcers appear. Ulcers are hard to treat and can become infected easily.

Recommendations To prevent and treat varicose veins
Create the habit of practicing exercise: Exercises such as walking, cycling and swimming are recommended for varicose veins, since they help improve circulation and control weight
Try to maintain a healthy weight: this is essential to adopt a balanced diet, avoid sugary drinks, soft drinks, refined sugars, increase the intake of fruits and vegetables colored (are rich in antioxidants and vitamins), reduce the intake of red meats and fats of animal origin, prefer fish rich in omega 3 (improve circulation), learn to eat the portions that are really needed and divide the daily calories between 5 or 6 meals per day. It is advisable to drink 8 glasses of water per day.
Avoid long periods of standing or sitting, as this causes additional pressure on the veins of the legs.
Regularly raise your legs. Elevating the legs helps prevent blood from building up in the legs and improves the flow of blood to the heart.
Use compression stockings. These help improve circulation and are the basis of treatment for varicose veins.
